Call for Candidates, by September 15th, for Seat 4, Hillsborough Soil and Water Cons. District
Dear Ag Producers, Ag Property Owners, and Colleagues –
The Board of Supervisors, Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District (“Conservation District”) has an immediate need to appoint a Supervisor to District Seat 4. Qualified candidates should express their interest in writing to the Board no later than 8 am on the morning of September 15th, 2025.
This is an opportunity for farmers and land operators to:
• promote innovations in soil and water management to all rural land operators throughout the Tampa Bay watershed,
• to affect government policy toward the sustainability of agriculture and other natural resources in rural Hillsborough County, and
• to encourage young people to take interest in careers in agricultural business and agronomy.
Chapter 582, Florida Statutes, requires that any person serving as a Supervisor must be a registered voter in the County in which they serve and meet one of the three qualifications [below] establishing their livelihood as coming from agricultural production:
• Is actively engaged in, or retired after 10 years of being engaged in, agriculture as defined in s. 570.02.
• Is employed by an agriculture producer; or
• Owns, leases, or is actively employed on land classified as agricultural under s. 193.461.
Appropriate documents include:
• image of voter registration card or receipt for same from the Supervisor of Elections, AND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING,
• Property Card showing your name on the ownership of an agricultural property that can be verified by the Board as being actively managed for agriculture, or,
• Sunbiz document showing your name as an officer for a business qualified as agricultural, along with an FDACS certificate, or
• W-2 from an agricultural business recognized by FDACS certificate.
